Having looked around for some portective casing for my lighting fixtures, i came across this website, ordered the biggest of the bunch as i wanted to see how many scanners i could get into it.. managed 4,
now onto the protection side of it, i was expecting a little more padding, but am not too dissatisfied, as have managed to modify the interior of the bag to allow for more padding to be fitted (Guess buying the biggest of the bunch paid off this time) and thus increasing the protection.
have since been back and bought 3 more cases, of differing sizes and will make the necessary modifications to those too,, but don't be too cautious, the bags are great, plenty of space, and easily moddable if you feel the need for more protection.
would i like to see any improvements in the bags for the future ? ? ?
I keep getting bugged by email to leave a review so here it is. I did not want to leave one to be honest.
I needed a satisfactory and decent padded bag to put my telescope in purely to carry it through a skylight and store it in a cupboard and chose the AC-144 as I did not want to pay £450 for the official hard scope case which would have been an overkill in space size and money. I had heard on forums that there is a competitor brand similar to Arriba and half their price called 'Teroloc' 'Teralor' or something like that but decided to pay double the price for what I expected to be double the quality from Arriba.
I was hugely dissapointed.
I should have listened to people on the forums that said "it was a no brainer" regarding price and quality ie: the competitor was better value overall.
The bag arrived by delivey quickly enough which was great. It was delivered to my workplace. I bicycle to and from work. The intentions being I would have to put my two arms through it and wear it like a rucksack to get it home as I was expecting 'padded' to mean 'padded' and thus quite bulky for the size of this big bag. Shortly after it was received, It ended up being re-rolled and put into a small regular sized rucksack - the one I wear everyday for work as it lacked physical presence that much.
I was taken aback by the very lightness and thiness of the package when it arrived.
Expecting it would expand immensely when opened and left for some time I again was dissapointed. The padding, if it can be described as padding is sparse to say the least. It is bolstered by two loose covered foam pads with velcro that you stick.......... somewhere.....
I found the zips of a poor quality and often annoyingly stuck when unzipping and re-zipping - especially on the curve parts.
The material I have no comment on. Only time will tell. As someone that wild camps alot and know his material I can't see anything special about it. I would expect it is not of a rip-stop charachter.
All in all I'm pretty gutted I paid £40+ for it. If I had some very expensive equipment to protect (which my scope actually is) then I would seriosly seek an alternative.
In a nut shell my expectations were most definately not unrealistic. The bag is a let down, buy one, give your review and I'll take back my words.
